“If you want to find happiness, find gratitude.” – Steve Maraboli
This is SO true!
Don’t believe me?
Give it a try!
Gratitude is so much more than saying ‘thank you’. It’s a feeling, a belief that you get deep in your soul.
I didn’t always practice gratitude.
I thought I did, I probably would have told you I was grateful every day. But I wasn’t. And when I wasn’t consciously practicing gratitude I was miserable.
I complained, a lot. I felt like a victim, a lot.
Woe is me, poor me, why is this happening to ME … ugh, thinking about that old me makes me sick. I can’t believe that was how I lived my life.
Then my best friend got cancer. She went through grueling chemo treatments, radiation, and invasive surgeries.
I became grateful for EVERYTHING.
Grateful to walk pain-free, grateful to sleep all night without waking up in pain, grateful for the hair on my head.
When I started practicing gratitude, REALLY TRULY being grateful, EVERYTHING changed.
My kids and I started getting along better, my husband didn’t make me angry as much and I attracted THE MOST AMAZING new friends into my life.
I found happiness by focusing on gratitude.
Focus on what you have. Know that there are people who would give anything to switch places with you. To have a roof over their heads, to have a loved one still alive, to have a meal on their plate today.
A grateful heart IS a magnet for miracles, so focus on all that you have today to be grateful for.
